I'm not sure if Chris needs the Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) software or if he can use the Dante dongle device (AVIO) to meet his requirements.
The disadvantage of DVS is that the software is bound to a computer, whereas the AVIO dongle is a portable Dante device that is good for demos.
For future Dante device requirements, my suggestion is to prepare an AVIO dongle solution to avoid any potential issues.
I have summarized the Dante AVIO adapter products and attached the information to this email.
Please review it and let me know your thoughts.
There are two reasons I think we should buy at least one AVIO products as below.
1. For demoing our Dante products, the “USB Type C Adapter” is the best choice.
I think before our sales use this dongle for demo, we should try it and make sure this dongle is suitable for their demo.
If we buy this dongle, it will certainly be left in our RD team and won’t give to our sales.
Its disadvantage is this dongle does not support ASIO interface and can’t be used in our audio AP tests.
2. For our AP tests, the “AES 3” is the best choice, however, it only support “PoE Hub(e.g. NETGEAR) ” connection.
So far, the PC for AP tests has the DVS license, so it is OK for our AP tests.
But occasionally it could be crashed by some accident such as AC power surge, attack by our power amplifier…etc.
This accident could be impacted our engineer performance(e.g. schedule delay).
If we have “AES 3”, we will have back-up to go on our AP testing when we meet the accident again.
In conclusion, the AVIO USB Type-C adapter is suitable for sales’ demo but can’t be used in AP audio tests.
The AES 3 is suitable for AP audio tests but not good for sales’ demo.
This information is for your reference.
Which solution do you think is more suitable for Chris's requirements - DVS, USB Type C adapter, or AES 3?
Kindly inform me of your decision.
